At Pressure Junkies Scuba, we pride ourselves in saying that we are an eco-conscience group of people. As such, we put our money where our mouth is! As of January, 2023, Our founder became a Greenfins Certified Dive Guide! We hope that his example to all, in not only being eco-conscience, but also reef-conscience!

What is Greenfins? Well, as per their website:

"Green Fins is a proven conservation management approach – implemented internationally by The Reef-World Foundation and the UN Environment Programme – which leads to a measurable reduction in the negative environmental impacts associated with marine tourism. It aims to protect coral reefs through environmentally friendly guidelines promoting sustainable diving and snorkeling. It provides the only internationally recognized environmental standards for marine tourism and its robust assessment system measures compliance.

Green Fins encourages and empowers divers, snorkelers, the diving industry and coastal communities to reduce the pressures on coral reefs by offering marine tourism companies practical, low-cost alternatives to harmful practices – such as anchoring, fish feeding and chemical pollution – as well as providing strategic training, support and resources."

The Greenfins Dive Guide program, is a FREE course that helps teach dive professionals how to help the reef by altering non-professional diver's behaviors, in order to preserve and protect the reef and oceanic ecosystems. Greenfins isn't JUST for dive professionals though. They offer a FREE course specifically for non-professional divers as well! Once you pass the test, you can choose to pay $25 for the certificate of completion. We highly suggest that you make this purchase because the money gets re-invested into helping to save our reefs! If you can't afford the cost of the certificate, don't fret! They do have a scholarship you can apply for, to basically waive the certificate cost if you're selected.
