Entry Level Scuba Programs

Open Water Diver

The SSI Open Water Diver Program provides students with the knowledge and training necessary to dive autonomously with an equally or more-qualified buddy, in environments equivalent with their training and to depths shallower than 60 feet, and up to 40 feet for students 10-11 years of age. This is the standard program most students take if they have a weekend to spare, because it gives them the standard privileges enjoyed by entry-level divers within the industry. This program is also the most value-added program, as it is a one-and-done program, whereas the experience programs will require re-certification when too much time lapses. The minimum age for this course is 10 years of age.
